Ubuntu includes slrn in the repos.
Your version of slrn is out of date.

Ubuntu is of course incredibly well served with slrn. A third party
repository hosted by Thomas Wiegner holds a copy of the latest svn while
I note that the beta of Intrepid Ibex holds slrn pre0.9.9-111. Slackware
lags behind this even in -current and still operates on a version 4
years old. Despite some agitation on my part I might add :-).
