party repository hosted by Thomas Wiegner holds a copy of the

No. Even the 12.0 Slackware (current is 12.1) I run came with
Slrn 0.9.8.1 [2004-10-07], and it is a great newsreader. I use it
and see no reason at all to 'upgrade'.

Go ahead and list the things that the latest slrn can do,
and you'll have made a list of things that most people don't
care about doing and possibly would prefer not to see people
doing on the usenet at all.

Oops. I misread the date in my haste. It is indeed 4 years old.

Never-the-less, it works just fine and does amazing things and
I have no intention of 'upgrading'.

Technocrats just can't quit tinkering, refusing to believe that
they can't improve an application.

Often, they end up wrecking the application. Like kde is wrecking
linux.
