The setup I have is a Hauppage TVFM tuner card (hard to get hold of
now but if you can get one new it'll knock you back around the £30
mark) with the Brooktree 878 controller. Two pieces of software I find
very useful are: Kino for straight-to-DVD streamripping and MainActor
for more intensive work (like frame cropping, etc). I use Knoppix/
Debian 5.3 on my editing box, hence the package manager (kPackage)
automagically sorts out the dependencies.

VIA/S3G Deltachrome IGP @ 1600x1200 (chipset graphics)
Optiarc 20X DVD+/-RW/DL AD5170A
