Re: DVD reader incompatibility: NTSC vs. PAL: ripping movies under Linux

Hello,

As a result of this the DVD player won't play UK movies
which follow the PAL standard. It will only play US movies
which follow the NTSC standard. Unfortunately I never
worried about this thinking that PAL vs. NTSC was
simply a specification for the TV itself and not for
the actual format of the video data on DVD.

You have to run either setregion or regionset on the
optical drive.
