OK, but there are no real membership rolls on usenet. BTW, that is
where you are, not "Google Groups." Note: Google provides one gateway into
usenet and maintains a somewhat complete archive of posts. They
also provide a gateway for spammers, which a lot of people find annoying,
and some filter all posters using Google's gateway. Anyway, checkout the
Wikipedia article on usenet for more information:

I'd like to know a little bit more about linux.

Again, wikipedia is your friend for an introduction to gnu/linux:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux

whats the differences between linux and vista for example?

One big difference is that GNU/Linux is a free (as in freedom) OS, and
all Microsoft offerings are proprietary and require license fees to use.

And is it suitable for music making? :)

I guess it depends on what you are trying to do...

Thank you!

Pardon my terse reply, but the wikipedia can do a much better job of
handling the FAQs than me. I do hope you continue to investigate
gnu/linux. One advantage it has is that it will run on fairly minimal
(surplus) hardware. For example, you can easily try it on a computer
with these specs:

CPU: Pentium III 500 - 800 MHz CPU (1+ GHz is obviously better)
RAM: 256 MB (512 MB is better.)
Hard Disk: 8G partition (for starters)

Also, please note that minimal hardware discussions tend to vary over
time. The hardware as detailed above is commonly available in the
"trash" right now as business and education retire old equipment
and upgrade to Core 2 and i5/i7. The leftover equipment is still
useful, that is, if you can outfit it with enough RAM. Linux also shines
on state of the art equipment.
