As the subject says, I'm getting constant I/O errors in the logs when
listening to any music CD with XMMS with occasional periods where
playback is interrupted for about a second. If I use a different
application such as KsCD, everything is fine.

In a similar vein, ripping a CD with KAudioCreater works flawlessly
whereas using a different ripper sometimes fails. I'm using Arch64 with
kernel 2.6.32 with an SATA drive.

Looks like a bug in UDEV:

It also affects DVD playback with Xine.
