Hi Folks.
I was messing with /etc/hots.deny to see if I could speed up loads in
Epiphany by rejecting all the ad servers. I'm dial-up.
The way that I do this is run "tinyproxy" and use that to filter the out
the advert servers. I have a ready made list of servers that you could use
for your filter. :)
Mark.
I did something that now reliably locks me up anytime I get to Google.
It will appear to load 90% of the way, then stall.
It's probably a problem with google-analytics
When I change to another screen via the switcher and come back, all
content is blank although the frame is still there w/ title and all and
I can still click the 'x' and force a quit.
Yep. Something is blocked.
I went back and commented out all the ad servers that I had added, then
went and blanked out (echo > file) all the files I could think of in
.epiphany and .mozilla (which epiphany uses, I believe) but am still
having no luck.
Any ideas where to look or what to delete/reset?
Delete your browser cache files.
I haven't tried this, but maybe menu, Edit, Personal Data is a place to start.
Restore your hosts.deny file back to how it was before you messed with it and
retry.
Then install tinyproxy and ask me for my filter list.
Mark.
