So, it appears that linux, as a desktop OS, has already got a foot on the

Is that news?
Has anyone ever saw a desktop for sale which shipped with linux?
Yes. And there are two at newegg right now. The selection has been
better in the past. I didn't see any at dell.com today, even though
the UI offers a "FreeDOS / Linux" selector (they did have FreeDOS
options). Then there are specialty providers. System76 (at the
obvious .com) has Ubuntu laptops and desktops, but no Mac or Windows
offerings.
I'm guessing Microsoft has been turning up the pressure on makers again.
That's why I do my part and refuse to buy computers with Microsoft tax
on them.
