upgrade trouble

I recently accepted my computer's offer to update to Ubuntu 12.04.
Unfortunately it hung on updating 'libc'. I'm like 'that is not good'.
After a while, i was able to use 'apt-get' to get it back to working
order.
-except-
When i run Update Manager, it says it can't update 'precise' to
'oneiric'.
Which is of course the opposite of what i want, to get it all to the
latest version.
How to fix this?
