| | Dear all
| |
| | I have set up a ftp server by using Proftp. Since I am using a router to
| | connect to the Internet with an ADSL modem, I have turn on the Passive
| Port
| | of the ftp server and use the port forwarding in my router.
Unfortunately,
| | it fail! I have tried to connect to the ftp within my local network and
it
| | work. I also make sure that my setting on the router is OK because I am
| | curretly using SERV-U (also turn on the passive mode) and everything is
| ok.
| | Furthermore, the login screen on the ftpclient show that my router can
| | locate (port forward) to a correct server but fail to establish a data
| | channel.
| |
| | Anyone can give me some idea or solution? Please help since I really
want
| to
| | build a Linux environment to replace any M$ server in my network.
| |
| | Thanks a lot

| I do not believe you can use passive when using NAT. Switch to PORT.

Are you definitely connecting to SERV-U in passive mode? or does your
client negotiate for supported protocol? (ncftp will do this). Also, don't
forget to port forward port 20 as well as 21.
