Don't know about over there, but on this side of the pond most of the cheap
ADSL routers are using the Conexant AccessRunner chipset. They work a treat
and will of course work with any O/S. Out of the box they are configured
with ip 10.0.0.2 and run a DHCP server handing out IP's to dhcp clients.
Connect through a browser to 10.0.0.2, change the web-admin password, fill
in your ISP username, password, VCI, VPI, encapsulation (VC-Mux / LLC),
reboot. Bobs yer uncle and fannies yer mums sister. There are tons of
irrelivent options, and it's not the friendlyest interface in the world, but
once you know what's relavent they're a peice of piss.

As a side note, the Conexant devices also have a USB port, and with the
correct driver, the USB functionality is actually a USB ethernet card that
is hard-wired into the router, if you get my drift.
