I have one of those ADMTek 8211 chipset based wireless PCI cards.
So far, AFAICT, the chipset/card/driver is a piece of junk. It can't
reach more than 8-10 feet, and even then, it stops for 10-60 seconds at a
time.
D-Link says that if it works at all, it's not their problem, but it must
be my environment - never mind that Belkin adapters reach 50' flawlessly
in the same environment. D-Link's advice is to move the machine closer to
the AP. I have to move it within 2' of the AP to get reliable
transmission. This, according to D-Link, is proof that something is wrong
in my environment, and not in their card.... (and this is repeatable with
2 different APs.)
So, any advice? Anyone have an ADMTek 8211 chipset card working with
linux? Or should I just toss this piece of junk?
