Hi all. I'v e already tried to post this problem in some other ng
(italian since I'm italian), but no good solution has arrived, so, I try
even here, hope not disturbing (and sorry my bad English :-).
I've just installed for the first time Linux Mandrake 9.1 (first linux
installation for me), and I've been able to solve all the setting
problems but this. I have two netcards, one is PCI while the other is
integrated. Both are supported by this distribution I think. They are
recognized by the system perfectly. The PCI is connected to a Alcatel
Speed Touch Home. I've tried to setup both the LAN (with a switch to
another PC with Windows XP installed) and the adsl connection (with
pppoe) but the connection was never estabilished. The only way to
connect to the internet is to disable the integrate netcard from BIOS
and use the other alone with the modem. In this way the connection is
perfect. In this situation, if I try to enable the netcard, I come back
to the first situation immediatly. The IP for the LAN card is
192.168.0.1. Then I left these other fields this way:
host name: left empty
zeroconf host name: left empty
DNS server: 80.18.114.155
gateway: left empty
gateway device: eth0 (eth0 is the netcard connected to the switch)
with these settings when I attempt a conenction the response is:
no connection
try to check the settings in the mandrake control center
Do someone have any suggestion?
Thanks and sorry for the long message.
Luca
