difference between port redirect and port forwarding

hi all

can any body point out the difference between in port redirect and port
forwarding? Actually i am trying to forward/redirect all the requests to
port 26 to 25, as i cannt access port 25 from my current network. I would
appreciate if somebody could suggest a solution for this problem.
