Hi there,
Is anyone here who can help me with my problem regarding slow NFS
mounting?
I have a server (SuSE 7.3) with 2 clients. One of them was built with
SuSE linux 7.3 and later updated to 8.2. I configured a NFS mount from
the client to 3 partitions on the server (still SuSE 7.3) and this
worked fine for about a year. At boottime it took approx. 10 seconds
to mount the 3 partitions. Last week I updated the Suse 8.2 client
(not the server) to version 9.0 and since then it takes 10 MINUTES to
mount the same three partitions. At first I thought I did something
wrong, so I tested another server and client with the same
configuration: same result. In fact that situation was even worse: I
could only mount after editing the hosts.deny: I had to remove all
entries there to be able to mount at all! This is very insecure
ofcourse, but there was no other way. I checked all I could think of:
the portmapper, mountd, rstatd and so on. They were all working as
they were supposed to.
Does anyone know if anything has changed recently? I cannot find
anything in Usenet nor SuSE supportdatabase about this topic. I am run
out of ideas now. Hope anyone can give me a hint.
Thanks,
Bob
