It didn't take an inhuman amount of digging to find
/usr/doc/dhcp-3.0pl2/examples/dhcpd.conf .
All his examples are 10.xxx.xxx.xxx . Isn't that
the class A private one? Does that mean I should
just plug my 192's into the examples I want to
emulate here?
Well, I'm about to find out what happens when I do it
anyway! [what's the smiley for the mad scientist in his
lab, going, "BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA IT'S ALIVE!! IT'S
ALIIIIIVE!!!!!"]
Oh, yeah. I've finally found an answer to the question
I didn't quite know how to ask a few days ago, like,
"Where do I start?"
I had poked at DHCP a little bit, but the idea of
IP masquerading came up, and I kind of left the DHCP
quest and did masq., which is working, and I get
a probably very valuable error message when clicking
on "Thunderbird" in "Computers Near Me" in my W2K
network places, and Thunderbird is running samba
right out of the box. But Vehicle logged on as
sambaclient as soon as I read the instructions!
So, static/dhcp/DNS and ip forwarding/masquerading
aren't as intertwined as I had thought. :-)
Cheers!
Rich
