I have two notebook computers, one running Win XP and the other
running Linux (Fedora Core 2). I compared the speed to download files
on the computer by downloading a large file on one computer, then
switched the ethernet card and downloaded the same file on the other
computer. I used mozilla firebird as an ftp interface on linux and
internet explorer on xp. I also tried manual ftp on the linux.
On the WinXP I reached download speed of approx. 800 kbyte/s, but on
linux the speed was a 10th of that, approx 80 kbyte/s.
Obviously something is wrong with the setup on my linux box, but I
really need some help on how to correct it!
regards
Fredrik
