100baseT may be faster than some old hard drives (especially if not using
dma). For example when I ftp uploaded a file from an old Linux PC without
dma, transfer would top out about 2-3MB/sec. If I deleted the destination
file and uploaded again, it would upload from disk cache (RAM) at 7MB/sec.
Also if using a hub instead of a switch, with a hub (half-duplex) there
may be collisions or it may depend what other traffic is happening at the
time. A switch can be full duplex without collisions.
