domain problem

Hello
A linux newbie really needs help here.
I have Fedora core 3. I have an own domain name, domain.com. We succeded in
pointing the domain to the server. At the beginning I only could reach the
site by typing the ip address. But after some day I succeded, though dont
know how.
I could type www.domain.com and got the webpage. The same I could do with
ftp and all other stuff. But suddenly I could not reach the page anymore. I
had to type the ip address again.
This story has happened a couple of times. I could reach the domain a day, I
couldnt another day. What can be the problem? This cannot be related to the
specified daemons, Im quite sure of this.
I know, I m not very specific. The problem is that I really dont know where
exactly to check. But, what do these sympthoms make you think the problem
can be? Please just ask which conf files I have to check. Most conf files I
have filled looking at tutorials on the net that exaplained how to do this.
Any help is very appreciated.
