Start your favorite text editor and add the line to the file.

No, it says: "# This file is edited by fstab-sync - see 'man fstab-sync'
for details". It doesn't say "This file is *only* edited by
fstab-sync .." or in any other way warn against manual modifications.
The man page for fstab-sync doesn't contain any warnings about editing
by hand either.
