to do.i have a cablemodem and a belkin router hooked up to my desktop
and my laptop. laptop is wireless. Now i would like to know how to
change the ip address of my modem and my router to access an old
website that i would be accessing under a new name. not any illegal
intentions just that i had a problem with another party harrassing
me! so i bailed out!so can the website figure out that it is my
computer and me accessing there site. so if i unplugg my modem and my
router for 1 day will this assign me a new address also would i have
to change my ethernet card in both my computers to give me a diffrent
address. im not a computer wiz so this may be simple to others but
this is all new to me. so if any one can help this would be great !!
thanks : :P
Your description is like your grammer and punctuation, opaque.
I certainly have no idea what you want to do.
Usually on a cable modem, it is your ISP that assigns your IP addresses.
YOu cannot change them without the agreement of your ISP.
And then there is a website coming into the mix. The website has to know
how to send stuff back to you so needs to know your IP address, or maybe
that of an annonymizing router along the way.
I have no idea if your ISP will give you a new IP if you unplug your system
for a day. They would not on mine, they connect the IP to the MAC address.
So, in short, discuss it with your ISP.
