Hi,

I've installed and configured SSHD on a Debian box, and downloaded
putty.exe under c:\windows.
The PuTTY howto writes that I should use "csoft" as connexion, but what is
it?
Do I have to create a "csoft" account in the Debian box? It should be
called a "how not to"!!

What "putty howto" is this? I can't see any howto on the putty site and
the documentation does not contain the word "csoft".

No, you do not have to create an account "csoft", you can log on with any
account (although hopefully you've prevented root from being able to log
on directly).

Without knowing what this document you are following is I can't guess what
it means.

Seems like he is using something like this:

http://www.csoft.net/docs/micro/winssh.html.en

as a starting point and misunderstanding what the how-to is saying.

universalbitmapper:

you just need to have an account on your debian box (a non-root account that you made on login, most likely) and enter that in Putty. Putty wil also let you configue a profile, so that you can have that account name and server ip address saved for future reference, this is where the csoft gets mentioned several times, and might be what you are confused about. Hope it helps.
