I have been playing with Fedora Core 5 for a while now and I have
discovered a odd thing
with regards to the ethernet cards. On a laptop I plugged in a
wireless card and the device name
that the laptop gave it was dev35623. Every time I ejected and
inserted the card a new number would appear. I just assumed that the
card wasn't supported or only partially supported. Yet today it
happened again but this time it was on a desktop with 2 Intel Express
Pro 100 cards.
The first card showed up as eth0 (like usual) the second card showed up
as dev904. I can
ifconfig the device as:

Re: : HEADSUP: new ath and hal - almost unusable? ... outbound traffic from the wired interface?... the wired NIC is communicating normally to/from it's own IP address and it shows ifconfig when the card is dead as: ... the clients are other atheros cards on XP and FBSD, ndis on FBSD, orinoco on XP and FBSD, senao on XP and Fbsd ... Even if it does not help either, I change to boot releng_5 and the card works fine and stable on the exactly same hardware ... (freebsd-stable)
