I have installed: SuseLinux10.1 + postfix and fetchmail for the mail
server.
From a Windows client I can
"telnet mail-server 25"
and
"telnet mail-server 110",
that is I can access my mail server.
A message posted via telnet is sent from the server and arrives to
destination; and the server is able to receive messages from the net.
But the mail client (Thunderbird) cannot access the mail server, thus
giving error.

Giving _what_ error, precisely?

Maximum allowed time passed
Connection error, server not available, connection refused (smtp)

Which log file can I check, to have more details?
