Question about name servers

What utility can I use to discover the name server(s) on a subnet (of an ISP
I'm on)?
I wouldn't have to bother, but I'm behind a dumb router that can't figure it
out, so I had to ask a friend (on a different subnet) what his was and use
that.
I'd like to do it properly, but need a little help.
The router is a D-Link DI-604 and I'm running Debian Etch.
Thanks

you both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
