localhost keeps defaulting to my router setup page.

HELP...i have installed unbuntu 6.10 on a spare PC and trying to setup
a webserver, when i type http://localhost into a browser i get my
router setup page, how do i make it into a webserver please or is
there a guide someone can point me towards setting up the software to
act as a webserver, please know I am totally knew at this, but i guess
you got that from my question....lol any help for a newbie would be
awesome thanks, as i say pointing me towards a dummies guide or
similar may be easier than trying to sort it out from scratch.
