cups printer does not like me

cups problem: I have a linux box, printhost, which has a parallel hp laser printer which is configured to be available for the entire subnet. I then go to another linux box and try to add that printer and print the test page. This is what I am getting:

HP HP LaserJet Series CUPS v1.1
Description:
Location:
Printer State: processing, accepting jobs.
"Unable to get printer status (client-error-forbidden)!"
Device URI: http://printerhost:631/ipp/

Why is it telling me that I cannot check the printer status? Also, I do
know that it is not printing unless I login to the printerhost and print
from there. Both machines have firewalls but the port 631:upd are open.
