at home I use a headless server, at which I connect to via ssh or
serial console. When I need to repair something that went wrong, I
need to disconnect the cables, remove the box from under my table and
connect it to the monitor of my daughter.
Anybody knows a Live or Restore CD that by default makes available a
serial or ssh console? Or a means to "fabricate" it?
detach/reattach remote GUI applications? ... I run a headless server and I've become fond of using the "screen" utility with SSH to allow me to launch a text-based application, detach from it, and then reattach to it later to see how it's going. ... I know that I can tunnel X over SSH to have my remote headless server do the processing and my local machine do the display, but sometimes I have to switch off my local machine. ...
