That just means you are not configuring it correctly, and instead
are using part of the default... which is different from one system
to another.
Also, test 3 was conducted using my Linux (Xandros) partition on PC-2,
hence Linux-to-Linux. It only seems to occur on Gentoo, and
irrespective of whether the other machine is Windows or another Linux
distro.

Until you show exactly what you did, rather than tell us what
you think you did, we can't point out the differencs.
