I have similar problems, but no solutions for you.
Win2k clients can search the mapped drive in 10 seconds or less. XP clients take 30 minutes. There are 70gb of files to search, but I'm just looking for a filename match, such as searching for *myfile*.txt
It just a simple workgroup. All clients can read / write, etc. Why are the XP client PCs so much slower?
C'mon community, help me and Andreas!

Hi,.
I have an application on a Windows XP client opening about 50 files on an
samba share on Fedora 6.
The first client opening these files does that in about 2 seconds.
The second (and more) client needs for the same files (which are still open
by the first client) about 2 minutes!?!
I have no more idea what the problem is. I tried several options with
oplocks, kernel oplocks, fake oplocks etc. but nothing helped!
Please can you help me out there? Any idea?
Thnx.
Andy.
