Yes, after some more personal investigation, I did check that one,
and there lies the problem.
Some periodical DHCP action overwriting that file, and losing good
nameserver lines, replacing them with two lines: "search lan", and
"nameserver 10.x.y.z".
I made /etc/resolv.conf immutable, as a work around, and filed a bug
report against Ubuntu Gutsy.
