Any other protections at the router? Do you have to add the mac address? What iwconfig command are you giving? Have you tried "iwconfig wlan0 essid "Meinert" ? Sorry, my experience is limited.

yup, the pci card knows which essid to connect to. The router broadcasts the ssid and it doesn't try to hide the mac address either...
