The router from my ISP uses 10.0.0.0/24, and there's at least two other ISPs in this area that do the same.

Note that they still use a 24-bit netmask, so the network has 254 available IP addressesm just like a 192.168.0.0/24 net would have. And why not? What's the point in having an huge address space if you're only ever going to use a tiny fraction of it?

(Also, if everybody used 10.0.0.0/8 both at home and at work, it would be slightly problematic to get VPNs working.)
