profile machines - such as internet servers - and on such machines, the
sysadmins are often - not always, but all too often - very lax at
implementing proper security precautions out of sheer laziness.

Just for clarity: "laziness" should here generally be understood as "too
busy with other things because their manager doesn't think security is
important enough to give the sysadmins time to devote to it".
