NetBSD on a Thinkpad 760, screen flashes on-off with screenblank?

    I have a Thinkpad 760 running NetBSD as my mail server. Since I seldom
    use the LCD I wanted it to turn off w/screenblank. Instead it flashes
    on and off every second or so. Anyone know how to keep it off?
