My wife bought an Averatec 3150H and asked me to install Linux on it. I
installed Mandrake 9.2 (because it was handy) and it worked -- except the
ACPI, battery monitor, etc. She wasn't happy.
I installed 2.6.5 kernel, and with a bit of work, I got everything to work
-- except the DVD/CD-RW. It doesn't seem to detect it. The Averatec
manual/website is useless; I have no idea what kind of drive this is, or
even what interface it's on.
Am I missing some vital kernel modules to detect the DVD/CD-RW? Any ideas
what? I'm pretty sure I've got IDE/APATI/SCSI... Although I'm not sure
how many of the SCSI drivers are needed for what is presumably an APATI
drive.
(.config file available on request -- I don't want to spam the group if
nobody needs it)
