How will LIiux (MDK 10) recognize hot-pluggable drives in a laptop.

Hi,
I'm considering installing Mandrake 10 (Official) on a laptop (COMPAQ EVO
N600C) with three hot-plug, interchangable drives: DVD/CD burner, Zip drive
and floppy drive. In Win2K one can easily replace those and the new drive
is immediately recognized and functional.
Can I get the same (or close) under Linux (MDK 10 Official)?

TIA
