losing tcpip connection

    Have fresh install of Slack 10 on a generic laptop. All seems ok, wiresless
    up and running fine. I can ping and ftp but as soon as I try ssh or http
    tcpip connection stops (unfortunately I do not see what is failing as
    nothing in logs). Initially I thought overheating but I was able to leave
    pinging for hours without problem. The card is linksys wcp11. I can seem
    to reproduce in slackware and suse 100% time. Am I missing something in my
    setup?

    Any thoughts appreciated.
