    Hello to all

    Sorry to start a new thread, but --I'm using Google groups -- the
    'reply' function seems not to be working at the moment. So I just copy
    and paste the previous messages below. I KNOW that's not the way it's
    supposed to work, but flame me if you want :-)

    To answer Conny who kindly offered his/her help, yes, the PCMCIA
    services are working, and my card is recognized. So it is just a
    problem of configuration. I don't need two ethernet cards in the XP
    box, since my modem is an USB one. The XP box is properly configured:
    in fact, I had previously installed a Mandrake 9.2, and
    internet-sharing was perfectly working.

    So my question remains valid, I guess: how should I fill the
    "network.opts" file properly? I already specified:
    IPADDR="192.168.0.4" (address I wish to give to my Linux laptop)
    NETMASK="255.255.255.0" (of course)
    NETWORK="192.168.0.0" (is it correct?)
    GATEWAY="192.168.0.1" (address of the XP box)

    Is there anything else I should specify?

    Thanks in advance for any subsequent help.

    Do you have the PCMCIA working?
    Try the commands: man cardctl
    and: man cardmgr

    I had Vector on my old 233 MhZ 32 RAM and the PCMCIA was found
    automaticly
    during install.

    The XP box should be set to internet sharing or something like that,
    and of
    course you need 2 ethernet cards in the XP box........
