Here is another vote for ThinkPads. My R40 runs Fedora Core 2 - and
previously RedHat 8 and 9 quite nicely. With a little fiddling all
the laptop stuff - suspend, hibernate, speedstep, etc. work well.
Mine is a Centrino and battery life is around 4hrs.
I did find that the R40 is much happier in APM mode than ACPI. I
wonder if that is the general consensus, or if I have missed a trick.
It seems fully functional in APM mode (w/an additional FAT32 partition
for hibernation) so there is no need to change. Just curious.
