That's what I did. I took Knoppix to Circuit City and tried every one of their
laptops.... HP, Compaq, Toshiba, Avertec, and maybe a few others. The only
one that did NOT work was Compaq. We bought a Toshiba for my wife and she
runs Slackware on it 24/7. However, if I had it to do over again I would have
spent extra money and bought her an IBM. The docs on the Toshiba are terrible
and Tosh. is really a Windows-centric company .... they don't know a thing
about Linux.
