I have a laptop dual booting Mandrake 10.1 and Windows XP. Under
windows I am able to access the internet via GPRS through my Nokia
8310 mobile. Whenever I put the phone by the infrared port it
detects it as a standard modem and then i can dial out using
"dial-up networking", just like i would a normal landline modem.
I would like to try and do the same under Linux if possible, but
all the websites I can find are terrifyingly technical and I do
not understand a word of them... Is there any "easy" way of doing
this - any kind of program that would automate this for me or
something? Would I be any better off using another distribution
maybe??
I have installed the IrDA packages using the Mandrake Control
Centre and they are starting up succesfully when the system boots,
but I cannot get it to do anything and IrDADump does not show
anything so I presume I have not got something configured
correctly and its not "seeing" the phone.
Can anyone suggest where I need to start?!!
Many thanks in advance
