I am running Debian Sarge on a old NEC versa lite 300MMX laptop (Cyber
9388 chipset).
During boot the backlight ocassionally (e.g. three boots in four)
switches off an can only be coaxed back on by a random number of
simulated screen close and openings.
It happens in X and the console.
I have tried switching APM on and off with no change.
Any ideas?
Do I need to recompile the kernel with some options on or off?
Is there a way of direcly accessing the backlight hardware from the
command line?
It doesn't have this problem in Windows so its not a hardware fault.
Thanks,
Tim.
