Maybe, there are certainly mfgrs. who will use ANY available excuse to
void the warranty.

But, then, how are they going to know that you were running linux if you
don't tell them? You can "image" the disk before you install Linux, and
the reinstall the image if you have to send it in for service (or,
better, use a different hard drive).
