    I've come across this before, on various laptops. Dells cope with it by
    dropping the power consumption. Toshibas, Acers and others cope by
    burning out. The problem is bad tracking on the power circuit. I fix it
    with silver solder poured over the track between component contacts.
    Tricky to do without a flow control system, but doable.
