Hello,
I am about to install Linux 9.1 PPC on my G3 Macintosh. The installation is
started from BootX an the installation-CD is red, but my harddisk is not
found.
I have changed the origianl harddisk to a 40 GB Seagate U series 5, model
ST340823A which works perfectly under MacOS.
As long as the harddisk is not autodetected, I try to select "Seagate"
manually. But when I select "next" in the installation program afterwards,
it shows "An error occurred - no valid devices were found on which to create
new filesystems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem".
Do anyone know how I can solve this problem? I guess it is a way to manually
give in the data for the harddisk like in Windows (sectors etc)? But I have
not found a way to get into such a mode.
Or is it e.g. a kernel argument I can give BootX to tell what kind of
harddisk I have?
Thanks in advance for your help
Best regards
Ronny
