I have a Umax S900 (Mac clone) running Yellowdog Linux with the 2.4.21-ben2
kernel. I can burn CD's all day long with it, EXCEPT, when I try to use -dao
(when making audio CD's) . If I use -dao, cdrecord hangs when it gets to
"Sending CUE ***" in the information output. If I don't use -dao, it works
fine, except of course I have long gaps in between tracks, which doesn't work
too well for some things, e.g. the transition from 3rd to 4th movements of
    Beethoven's 5th symphony. :)

-dao also hangs the system up. :( I've also tried -raw, which after it
does some initial stuff, writes a billion messages about ioctl to the
stdout, and then hangs the system.

What I've been doing is going through my (extensive) audio CD collection and
making copies of the ones that are a bit scratched using "cdda2wav -B -paranoia"
and "cdrecord -useinfo *.wav" . It works GREAT, except I'd really like to be able
    to use -dao .

The 6416S is supposed to support DAO . In fact, I think I've used it in that mode
using Toast and MacOS . Any suggestions toward getting DAO to work in cdrecord ?

    % cdrecord -checkdrive

That's the latest version of cdrecord. I've also tried random older versions.

1.0d is the latest firmware for the drive (according to the Yamaha website).

I've emailed Jörg but of course he's a busy fellow and I may not hear from him
    anytime soon, or ever.

What I'm going to try next is cdrdao . But I'll have to re-extract a lot of data
since .inf and separate .wav files are not what cdrdao seem to want. Hey, does
anyone know how to feed the output from cdda2wav -B into cdrdao (without having
    to hand-write a CUE ***)?

I've Googled for "Sending CUE ***" but in every article it turned up, people
are getting past the "Sending CUE ***" message, whereas I never do.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

    Griff
