Hello, these are my first steps with Linux under PowerPC.
I'm trying to install Mandrake 9.1 on a Powermac 8500.
Boot OS9.1 from external HD SCSI drive, one free partition left on that
same drive.
The machine have an internal SCSI CDROM drive (stock CDROM)
First of all, Mandrake Install is unable to write preferences to BootX.
So I've done it by myself :
- Force SCSI On (tried both ON and OFF)
- Force video settings
- Specify Ram Disk : all.gz
- Ram disk size = 40000
Then save pref, and click "Linux"
The installation process starts, I select a "CDROM Install" from the menu
and then I get an error "CDROM not found".
>From there, no matter the driver I choose (I've tried most of them), the
CDROM is still not found...
And thus, I can't continue with the installation...
Any hint ? Thank you
