Hi Folks,
I have a spare Agere, otherwise known as Orinoco, Wireless Wavelan
Gold 16Bit PC Card and I was wondering if I could use it to connect my
desktop to my wireless lan. I am using Linux on an old-world beige
G3/266.
I have seen a few cards on eBay, and most of them say they are
compliant with the PCMCIA 2.1/JEIDA 4.1 specifications and that the
data interface to the PC card is 16/32 bit and powered at 3.3V or 5V.
One in particular gives the following details:
RICOH chipset
Compliant with PCI Local Bus specification 2.2
Compliant with PC Card Standard Release 8.0 specification
Support 16-bit (PCMCIA 2.1/JEID 4.2) and 32-bit (Cardbus) PC Card
3.3V or 5V power light indicator
Compliant with i82365SL register set and ExCA
Support Type I/II/III Cardbus/PCMCIA Card
Supports Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
There is no mention of Linux or MacOS on the listing. I am not
bothered about the compatibility with MacOS as this is a Linux-only
machine, but before I spend my money I was wondering if anyone here
knows if this card will work under Linux?
Any help or feedback welcome!
Thanks,
Andrew McCall
