Hmm, it depends. If you've used Red Hat, and you can stand Red Hat,
then Yellow Dog will work (its RH based and it shows). YD 3.0.1 worked
fine, but it seemed dated. I personally prefer Mandrake, but to get
something recent you'll have to put up with a testing release (10.1
Beta). Gentoo is another option, but the truth is that anything that
will compile in Gentoo can be packaged in Mandrake or YD.

As for the size of user base, Mandrakes PPC has a significantly smaller
base than its x86 dist, but the x86 base is quite large. The question
that I can't answer for you is how the PPC community stacks up between
Yellow Dog, Gentoo, and Mandrake.

For a big userbase, I think you may have start look at Gentoo, ... at least it's the most populare distro for Pegasos owners over here, ...
